Moore/Mckenney/Whitmore Islands Ecological Reserve
Moore/Mckenney/Whitmore Islands Ecological Reserve is located on the Central Coast in the traditional territories of the Gitga'at, Gitxaala and Kitasoo/Xai'xais Nations. The ecological reserve was created in 1971 and covers 73 hectares.

Ecological Reserves are areas in British Columbia selected to preserve representative and special natural ecosystems, plant and animal species, features, and phenomena. Ecological Reserves provide the highest level of protection for the maintenance of physical and biological diversity while allowing for research and educational activities.
Moore/McKenney/Whitmore Islands Ecological Reserve was established to preserve the nesting sites of several species of colonial seabirds. This ecological reserve is closed to the public to protect nesting birds and their habitat.
