Hənʎəmdᶻi Məkola/Yorke Island Conservancy
This conservancy was established pursuant to the government’s land use decision for the Central Coast Land and Resource Management Plan area.
This conservancy protects a significant historic site as Yorke Island has been designated and protected for its role in National defence prior to, and during World War II. During the Second World War, the island housed the principal gun emplacement guarding Johnstone Strait.
