Coast Funds is pleased to welcome Hide Ozawa to the senior leadership team as the new Director of Communications and Engagement, effective April 2026. Hide joins the team during a period of growth and, in this new role, will lead communications, community engagement, and government relations, strengthening Coast Funds’ capacity for serving First Nations.

With Coast Funds twenty-year anniversary approaching, there’s a unique opportunity to develop and drive an approach to this work that deepens our decades-long service with participating First Nations on the coast.

Hide’s career has been focused on providing strategic communication, marketing, and public affairs counsel to Crown governments, First Nations, and corporate clients. By connecting research, language, design, technology, and Crown government understanding, Hide has deep experience in building and leading communications functions to share impactful stories while fostering relationships.
“I have seen first-hand the potential that exists when First Nations take the lead on economic development and environmental stewardship,” says Hide. “I’m looking forward to amplifying this work and continuing the significant momentum at Coast Funds.”
Hide’s background in both the provincial public service and private practice has shaped a strong commitment to working in service of others, including First Nations. He is a trusted partner and is committed to supporting economic self-determination and reconciliation for Nations in BC, and across Canada.
Hide holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Simon Fraser University and is grateful to live and work on xʷməθkʷəy̓əm Musqueam, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Squamish, and səlilwətaɬ Tsleil-Waututh peoples’ territories.
