Kitasoo/Xai’xais Nation’s Klemtu Hydropower Project Featured on APTN National News

Background

Coast Funds, Dzawada̱ʼenux̱w First Nation, Kitasoo/Xai’xais First Nation, and the Province of B.C. recently announced over $25 million in new First Nations’ investments to transition coastal communities to sustainable, locally powered renewable energy systems through the Renewable Energy for Remote Communities Program (RERC).

On July 13, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) aired a feature story on APTN National News about Kitasoo/Xai’xais Nation’s Klemtu Hydropower facility — one of the two Indigenous-owned clean energy projects funded in part through the first round of funding made available under RERC.

The APTN news story features Kitasoo/Xai’xais Chief Councillor Roxanne Robinson, Kitasoo/Xai’xais Councilor Isaiah Robinson, and former Coast Funds board chair Huux̱ Percy Crosby.
